Burnley Housing Needs referred Tanya* to HAPI, after she approached them for support. Tanya was staying with a friend, when she was asked to leave home by her parents. Both parents were saying that they could no longer cope with Tanya's mental health issues. Tanya was only able to stay with her friend on a temporary basis, and requested support to find her own accommodation.
A referral was submitted by Rossendale Housing Options Team; Amy* was currently sofa surfing, and 18 weeks pregnant. Amy had fled domestic violence from her ex-partner, but was not able to return home to family due to overcrowding. After presenting as homeless at her local housing office she was referred to HAPI for support.
Children's Social Care - Family Support, submitted a referral; Kate*, aged 15, was living with a family friend under a private foster care arrangement. Kate was refusing to return home to mum, even though mum was keen for her to return to the family home. Kate had not been home in some months, and was not speaking to her mum at that time. Her family support worker, who felt that mediation would be effective within this situation, referred Kate to HAPI.
